APES is an ultra-compact, narrative-first RPG system designed for flexibility, speed, and meaningful player agency.
Whether you're running a tense one-shot, a short campaign, or a long-term epic, APES adapts effortlessly to any genre or setting — from gritty fantasy and sci-fi to modern horror, superhero stories, or whatever world you want to explore. The system was built from the ground up to put the spotlight on the players and their choices.
Core Philosophy
Progression in APES is not based on traditional experience points or levels. Instead, characters advance through Inspiration Points (IP) — a valuable resource awarded by the Game Master for outstanding roleplay, creative problem-solving, bold decisions, and immersive participation at the table.
APES is intentionally challenging during key dramatic moments, delivering memorable and cinematic climaxes. At the same time, the system strongly encourages calmer, character-focused scenes that allow the story and relationships to develop naturally.
What Makes APES Unique
- No Attributes or Complex Stats: Forget Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. A character’s capabilities emerge organically from the skills they choose and develop. This makes growth feel natural, avoids mechanical contradictions, and allows you to clearly say “my character became much stronger” without breaking the fiction.
- d12 Resolution System: The use of a twelve-sided die makes small bonuses highly relevant and turns critical moments into real tension. Extreme results (1 and 12) occur more frequently than in d20 systems, creating swingy, exciting, and dramatic rolls.
- Seamless Multiclassing: Classes were designed with multiclassing in mind from the very beginning. A pure Meleeer is incredibly efficient at dealing damage, but a Meleeer/Survivor multiclass can feel like a classic warrior while offering much more versatility and depth. Creative combinations are not only viable — they are encouraged.
- Concept-Driven Play: The most important thing in APES is that you have a strong character concept you genuinely enjoy and know how to roleplay. From that solid foundation, everything else flows naturally.

Sorry if someone have a hard time to understand some mechanics, I tranlated with AI help, because translating everything again everytime I update it is brutal, but I promise a better translation for the 4th edition.
